In the words of <strong>Sergio Fidalgo<\/strong>, <strong>Head of CIB Engineering at BBVA<\/strong>, <strong>the biggest gap in the digital transformation is in data treatment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>BBVA Group<\/strong> is immersed in an evolution process towards a <strong>data-driven organization<\/strong>, a challenge to adapt to an environment in which <strong>data has an incalculable value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h6>This ambitious project, set as a priority in 2018 by the CEO of BBVA himself, Carlos Torres, will help financial organizations evolve in the long term.<\/h6>\n<h2>What are the implications of this new model?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Data-driven is the change from a traditional organizational culture to a data-based culture<\/strong>, that is to say, a company where <strong>decision-making is determined by data<\/strong> rather than by intuition, experience or the actions of competitors. <strong>The data becomes the core of the creative process<\/strong> and the <strong>main source<\/strong> for the generation and adaptation of financial products and services.<\/p>\n<p>At an organizational level, it entails the <strong>creation of new teams<\/strong>: to date, the <strong>Data Portfolio Manager<\/strong> and <strong>Data Domain Office<\/strong> units. <strong>The Government of Data Office<\/strong> stands out among them, a key strategic line of the BBVA data agenda.<\/p>\n<p>In relation to the technological model, BBVA has opted for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.datio.com\">Datio<\/a>, as the new <strong>big data infrastructure of the group<\/strong>, which supports the data-driven model.<\/p>\n<h2>New Roles<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>new organizational model<\/strong> also involves the creation of certain <strong>specific roles<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Data Scientist:<\/strong> a profile responsible for studying the data intelligence, developing the necessary tools and skills for the study of advanced analytics, and ensuring that the information is available in the new analytical environments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data Owner:<\/strong> an interesting feature of the new data governance model is its decentralization.
